Based out of northern Indiana, The Schmidts & First Love is committed to singing and playing first and foremost for the Lord God.
The Schmidts & First Love have been working together as a husband & wife team singing in churches, concert halls, fairs and town festivals for over 30 years. Singers and pickers have come and gone but it all began with a love for music and the Giver of Music and that love just grows stronger.
The Schmidts feature strong family harmonies and a mountain country flavor in the styling of the Ricky Skaggs, Osborne Brothers, Doyle Lawson, Carter Family or Louvin Brothers. Also included in each appearance is fiddling and yodeling. The group consists of Stephen Schmidt - lead & harmony vocals, guitar, dobro; Rosetta Schmidt - lead & harmony vocals and mandolin; Phillip Wickey –harmony vocals- fiddle, guitar ; Stephen Emanuel Schmidt – lead & harmony vocals, bass, Barton Royer – vocals, piano & pedal steel.
